Brucin is an antibacterial peptide (HTLCMDGGATY) isolated from dried fruit protein of Brucea javanica (L.) Merr. The peptide is highly active against Streptococcus pyogenes with an inhibitory activity 16-fold and 12.5-fold higher than penicillin G and chloramphenicol, respectively, with a MIC value of 20 μmol/L (Sornwatana T et al, 2013).
