[death executioner BCL2 homolog] Debcl is a Drosophila melanogaster gene related to members of the mammalian BCL2 family. Debcl has been isolated independently as drob-1, dBorg-1, and Dbok.
Structurally, Debcl resembles BAX. Ectopic expression of Debcl in cultured cells and in transgenic flies causes cell death by apoptosis.
