[TAC inhibitory activity], p29. This factor is produced by adherent cells of HIVinfected patients. It is secreted also by HIVinfected U937 cells (Ammar et al, 1991, 1992).
This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 29 kDa (p29) is not cytotoxic. It is not identical with TNF-alpha, IFN-alpha, or IFN-gamma. It inhibits the expression of the alpha subunit of the IL2 receptor but not the expression of the beta subunit in normal activated T-cells.
