[insulin-like-5] This protein, identified by sequence homology (Conklin et al, 1999), belongs to the insulin gene superfamily and shows a complex two-chain peptide hormone constrained by three disulfide bonds in a pattern identical to insulin. The murine protein is being referred to also as Rif2 [Relaxin/insulin-like factor 2] (Hsu, 1999).
