PGLa-H (KIAKVALKAL) is an antimicrobial peptide isolated from the skin of the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis). Purified PGLa-H shows antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis, and is active against multidrug-resistant meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus . PGLa-H kills cells by destroying the cell membrane (Hou et al, 2011).
