Sulfakinins are a family of arthropod neuropeptides structurally and functionally similar to the vertebrate brain-gut peptides cholecystokinin / gastrin, and may have originated from a common ancestral gastrin/CCK-like peptide (Baldwin et al, 2010). They have been found in cockroaches, flies, beetles, moths, locusts, crickets, and also in shrimp and lobsters (see below).
