This hormone has been identified by Harper and Raper (1943) who isolated it from extracts of the small intestine as an activity that stimulates pancreatic enzymes. Pancreozymin is identical with cholecystokinin. Mutt and Jorpes (1968) have shown that both hormones are identical. In older references this hormone is being referred to also as CCK-PZ [cholecystokinin/pancreozymin].
