abbr. PRGF (a term with multiple meanings). This factor is most likely encoded by, or derived from, the gII glycoprotein of pseudorabies virus. The factor induces a transformed phenotype in normal MK-2 cells and syrian hamster embryo cells and represses the transformed phenotype of Hela cells (Gasperik et al, 1994; Dusinskaa et al, 1994).
The factor is detected in human embryo lung cells latently infected with PRV. Enhanced production of the factor by latently infected cells is observed in the presence of IFN-alpha. (Golais et al, 1992). The factor reduces actin filaments in normal human fibroblasts and increases the number of filamentous actin structures in HeLa
