This peptide, KRFYVVMWKK, is derived from the cell-binding site contained within the C-terminal, globular domain of thrombospondin-1 (Gao et al, 1996). The peptide binds to CD47 and has been employed to study the consequences of CD47 ligation. However, there are discrepancies ascribed to the effects of CD47 ligation by 4N1K.
4N1K appears to regulate adhesive functions mediated by integrins in several cell systems.
