5c8

This surface activation protein (identified by a monoclonal antibody of the same name) is expressed exclusively on T-cells also expressing CD4 (see also: CD antigens; see also: cell activation). 5c8 is called also T-BAM [T-cell B-cell activating molecule].

5c8 has been shown to be a component of the contact-dependent helper signal to B-cells. D1.1 cells activate peripheral B-cells to express surface CD23 in a contact-dependent mechanism that is blocked by monoclonal antibodies directed against 5c8. D1.1 cells also activate B-cells from lymphoid organs, as well as a ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
