66 kDa bone phosphoprotein

abbr. 66 kDa BPP. This chicken bone phosphoprotein is a major noncollagenous component of bone and is the major phosphoprotein synthesized by cultured chicken embryo osteoblasts.

The primary structure of this protein and its biological features suggest that the avian gene encodes a homolog of mammalian osteopontin (Moore et al, 1991).
