[a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain 30; ADAM metallopeptidase domain 30] This protein is a member of the ADAM protein family. It has been identified by Cerretti et al (1999) as an expressed sequence tag. The gene is expressed in human testis. Two proteins differing in their cytoplasmic tails have been described.
Mayor-Lynn K et al (2011) have reported expression of ADAM30 in placentae from preeclampsia, preterm labor and normal term pregnancies, with expression being subject to various microRNAs.
Genome-wide association studies suggest that ADAM30 is one of many identified genes associated with type 2 diabetes (Ho et al, 2013; Almawi et al, 2013).
