ADF-H domain

[ADF-H domains, ADF-H homology domain, ADF-H homology domains]

[actin-depolymerizing factor homology domain] Also abbr. ADF domain. One or more copies of this protein domain are found in a family of proteins that regulate the structure and dynamics of the actin cytoskeleton by binding to monomeric or filamentous actin in a specific manner (Lappalainen et al, 1998; Puius et al, 1998). The overall fold of this domain is similar to that of the gelsolin homology domain. The interactions of ADF/cofilin proteins with actin can be downregulated by phosphorylation in vertebrates.
