[Apoptosis-linked gene-4] This gene has been identified during studies of apoptosis induced by T-cell receptor engagement (Lacana and D'Adamio, 1999). Another designation is PDCD11 [programmed cell death-11].
Various truncated transcipts have been found. The truncated transcript ALG4F prevents T-cell receptor induced upregulation of FAS ligand and cell death. Overexpression of full-length ALG4 induces transcription of FAS ligand and apoptosis.
