ASAP
[apoptosis and splicing associated protein] ASAP constitutes a protein complex, termed ASAP complex), isolated from HeLa cell extract (for overview see also: Deka and Sing, 2017). ASAP complexes are composed of the polypeptides SAP18, RNPS1 (a general activator of RNA processing) and different isoforms of the Acinus protein, which has been implicated in apoptosis and has been identified as a component of the spliceosome. Microinjection of ASAP complexes into mammalian cells results in acceleration of cell death. ASAP complexes disassemble after the onset of apoptosis and may link RNA processing and apoptosis (Schwerk et al, 2003).
