(approved gene symbol) [autophagy-related-10] This protein is known also as APG10 [autophagy gene 10] or APG10L [APG10 autophagy 10-like]. It is one of several homologs of yeast genes participating in the process of autophagy that governs the bulk degradation of cytosolic compartments by lysosomes. Mouse ATG10 is a Ubiquitin-like-conjugating enzyme that has been shown to interact with human ATG12 in human embryonic kidney cells in the presence of ATG7, the enzyme at the top of a ubiquitin-like protein cascade. Overexpression of ATG10 facilitates ATG12 -
