This peptide, TFFYGGSRGKRNNFKTEEY, is a slightly altered version of Angiopep-1 (TFFYGGCRGKRNNFKTEEY), both of which are members of a series of peptides termed Angiopeps, derived from the a lignment of the amino acid sequence of aprotinin with the Kunitz domains of human proteins (Demeule et al, 2007) that exhibit higher transcytosis capacity and parenchyma accumulation than aprotinin. The most prominent and effective member of this family of peptides is Angiopep-2. Angiopep-2 utilizes LRP1 [Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1] to cross the capillary endothelium
