Anoplin is a peptide of 10 amino acids (GLLKRIKTLLamide) purified from the venom of the solitary spider wasp Anoplius samariensis (Konno et al, 2001). It is the smallest linear alpha-helical antimicrobial peptide found naturally to date. The peptide has a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria and is not hemolytic for human erythrocytes. Anoplin is very potent in stimulating degranulation from rat peritoneal mast cells see also: MCD peptide family [mast cell degranulation peptide family]).
