[Apolipoprotein B100 danger-associated signal 1] This peptide with the sequence VPVVNVEVSPFTIEMSAFGY is derived from apolipoprotein B100, a major protein constituent of chylomicrons, LDL, and VLDL that functions as a recognition signal for internalization of LDL particles by the apoB /apoE receptor. The peptide, identified by Ketelhuth et al (2011), corresponds to apolipoprotein B100(3226-3245) (APOB100(3226-3245); APOB(3226-3245)). This peptide may be released by proteolytic cleavage and is present in atherosclerosis.
