Dengue virus M protein (membrane protein) is one of the three structural proteins of virion particles (Chambers et al, 1990). Its 40 amino acid long ectodomain has been shown to induce neutralizing antibody responses (Bray & Lai, 1991; Vazquez et al, 2002). The term ApoptoM refers to a short peptide sequence (IETWILRHP) from the extracellular domain of M protein and corresponds to Dengue virus M protein (32-40). Catteau et al (2003) have reported that the intracellular production of the M protein ectodomains (residues M-1 to M-40) of all four Dengue virus serotypes triggers cell death by apoptosis in host cells such as mouse neuroblastoma Neuro 2a cells and human
