Arenicin-1 (RWCVYAYVRVRGVLVRYRRCW) and arenicin-2 (RWCVYAYVRIRGVLVRYRRCW) are peptides of 21 amino acids that are active against Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Each arenicin has one disulfide bond (Cys3-Cys20). The two peptides have been purified from coelomocytes of marine polychaeta Arenicola marina (lugworm) (Ovchinnikova et al, 2004). Andrä J et al (2008) have presented the solution structure of arenicin-1 and reported that bacterial killing occurs within minutes and is accompanied by membrane permeabilization, membrane detachment and release of cytoplasm. Cho and Lee (2011) have reported that arenicin-1
