abbr. BIF (a term with multiple meanings). This biochemically uncharacterized factor of approximately 80 kDa was found in conditioned medium of Con A-activated human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. It is an inhibitor of antigen-stimulated B-cells proliferation and clonal expansion induced by B-cell growth factors (see: BCGF) (Kawano et al, 1985, 1989).
