[BROMO domains]
This sequence domain of approximately 110 amino acids was described for the first time by Tamkun et al (1992) in a Drosophila melanogaster gene (brahma) that regulates homeotic genes. The domain is found in a variety of DNA-binding proteins of mammalian, invertebrate and yeast origin. This includes chromatin-associated proteins such as histone acetylases and the ATPase component of certain nucleosome-remodeling complexes. The domain has been found in over 100 proteins and may occur as a single copy, or in duplicate. The domain may act as a protein-protein interaction motif
