also simply BTB domain. BTB is an acronym coined from Bric-a-brac, Tramtrack, Broad-complex, which are zink finger proteins involved in transcriptional regulation in Drosophila melanogaster. The highly conserved domain of approximately 115 amino acids is found primarily at the N-terminus of zinc finger proteins and is evolutionarily conserved from Drosophila melanogaster to mammals (Zollman et al, 1994). POZ [Poxvirus zinc finger] is an identical domain found in a variety of poxvirus proteins (Bardwell and Treisman, 1994).
