Basogranulin

This protein is identified in basophils by a monoclonal antibody (BB1) (McEuen et al, 1999, 2001). It is secreted by basophils after cell activation. Mochizuki et al (2003) have reported that basogranulin is a marker of basophil activation and may be of utility for distinguishing basophil and mast cell activation.

Agis et al (2006) have reported that basogranulin can be used as an immunohistochemical basophil marker in the bone marrow of patients with myeloproliferative disorders (chronic myeloid leukemia).
