[type-1 B-effector cells; B-effector-1 cells] These cells constitute a polarized subpopulation of B-cells (Harris et al, 2000). This subpopulation of B-cells is characterized by the production of a distinct pattern of cytokines (for a related subpopulation see also: Be2 cells).
The development of Be1 cells depends on the cytokine environment in which the cells are stimulated during their primary encounter with antigen and T-cells.
