[Brugia malayi heat shock protein 12.6] BmHSP12.6 is a small heat shock protein encoded in the genome of parasitic nematode Brugia malayi. The gene has orthologs in several gastrointestinal nematode genomes (Ancylostoma caninum, Ascaris lumbricoides, and Ascaris suum). BmHSP12.6 shows highest expression in the vertebrate stages of the parasite compared to its mosquito vector stage. BmHSP12.6 has been shown to bind to the human IL10 receptor (IL10R) and to inhibit the binding of human IL10 to its receptor in vitro.
