This peptide with antibacterial activities corresponds to the last 13 amino acids of the carboxyl terminus of human platelet factor-4 (PLYKKIIKKLLES; corresponding to PF4(58-70) [platelet factor-4(58-70)]). C18G is a peptide analogue with 80-fold higher antibacterial activity than C13. C18G or an analogue with all D-amino acids (C18X) significantly increases the survival of neutropenic mice when coadministered with a low level of cefepime (Darveau et al, 1992).
