[Chlamydia protein Associating with Death Domains] CADD was identified by database analysis as a bacterial protein that contains a death domain. The protein is encoded in the genome of Chlamydia trachomatis and has homologs in other Chlamydia species. CADD is expressed late in the infectious cycle of Chlamydia trachomatis.
CADD induces cell death by apoptosis in a variety of mammalian cell lines (HeLa, Jurkat, Hep3B) when expressed by transient gene transfection. CADD has been shown to interact with FAS antigen, DR4, DR5, and weakly with TNF receptor-1 but not FADD, RIP,
