[CC chemokine ligand 28, chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 28] This is the approved gene symbol for a member of a group of cytokines generally known as chemokines (Zlotnik and Yoshie, 2000). Human and mouse CCL28 share 83 % identity at the amino acid and 76 % at the nucleic acid levels. The protein has been described also as MEC [Mucosae-associated epithelial chemokine]. An older designation is SCYA28 [small inducible cytokine A28].
