CD89

[CD89(+), CD89(-)]

Other designations:

FCAR [Fc fragment of IgA receptor] (approved gene symbol)

IgA receptor [immunoglobulin A Fc receptor]

Fc-alpha R (also Fc-alpha RI)

CD89 is a heavily and variably glycosylated protein of 55-100 kDa (Monteiro et al, 1990, 1992, 1993). The gene contains five exons (Sl, S2, ECl, EC2 and TWC). Deletions of each of these exons of via alternative RNA splicing produce multiple isoforms (de Wit et al, 1995; Maliszewski et al, 1990; Pleass et al, 1996; Reterink et al, 1996; Patry et al, 1996; Morton et al, 1996; Toyabe et al, 1997).
