[Colony-forming unit stimulating activity] This factor was initially found to be produced by spleen cells and also by certain ConA-stimulated T-cell hybridomas.

It induces the generation of multipotent hematopoietic stem cells in cultures of murine bone marrow cells. The factor appears to have the same activity as PCSF (P cell stimulating activity) and is identical with IL3. See also: CFU (colony-forming units.
