(-1-) calponin homology domain
This protein domain of approximately 110 amino acids (Banuelos et al, 1998; Stradal et al, 1998) is named after the actin binding protein calponin, although calponin binds actin through a region other than the CH domain. This protein domain is found in a variety of cytoskeletal proteins that bind to actin.
CH domains can be subdivided into at least three types and the existence of two other types has been suggested by Gimona et al (2002). Type 1 and Type 2 CH domains are the tandemly arranged domains
