[CC-Chemokine-activated killer] A name given to cytolytic cells similar to cells activated by IL2 (see: LAK cells).
CD4(+) or CD8(+) cells do not generate CHAK activity. CHAK activity is obtained by incubating CD56(+) cells with certain members of the CC-Chemokines (MIP-1-alpha, MIP-1-beta, MCP-1, and RANTES).
