This designation refers to a peptide, called originally P15 peptide or P15-Tat. has the sequence CWMSPRHLGTC and was identified by screening of a random cyclic peptide phage display library for peptides that bind to casein kinase 2, a serine-threonine kinase that is frequently dysregulated in many human tumors. When fused to the protein transduction domain derived from the HIV1 tat protein, which allows the protein to be delivered into tumor cells, P15-Tat induces the expression of caspases and causes cell death by apoptosis of tumor
