This peptide with the sequence CKSTHPLSC has been identified by phage display methods (Yoo et al, 2010). It acts as a cell-targeting peptide and, binds selectively to Peyer's patch M cells. CKS9 peptide prominently enhances the targeting and transcytosis ability of chitosan nanoparticles to Peyer's patch regions. Jiang et al (2014) have reported the use of this targeting peptide as an efficient oral vaccine carrier, showing that oral immunization with a suitable vaccine construct employing this homing in mice results in elevated secretory IgA responses in the mucosal tissues and systemic IgG antibody responses, providing a complete immune response with induction of both Th1 cell and Th2 cell
