CLEC12A has been identified as MICL [myeloid inhibitory C-type lectin-like receptor] by Marshall et al (2004), who identified three different splice isoforms and reported that CLEC12A is an inhibitory C-type lectin-like receptor expressed primarily on granulocytes and monocytes. Marshall et al (2006) have reported expression primarily on myeloid cells, including granulocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells
