CRLR

[calcitonin receptor-like receptor] abbr. also CLR. Approved gene symbol CALCRL; abbr. also CGRPR. This receptor, together with other subunits, has been shown to be one of the receptors CGRP [Calcitonin gene-related peptide] and for adrenomedullin (McLatchie et al, 1998; Hinson et al, 2000; Miyauchi et al, 2002). The specificity of the CGRP receptor appears to be decided by RAMP1, which is part of the receptor complex (Steiner et al, 2002). The related factors RAMP2 and RAMP3, in combination with CRLR, preferentially bind adrenomedullin. CRLR in combination with RAMP3 has a weak affinity for CGRP.
