A murine cytotoxic/suppressor T-cell line the viability and proliferation of which depends on IL2 and which is used to assay this factor.
The proliferative effect of IL2 is attenuated by simultaneous exposure to prostaglandin E2. The cells also proliferate in response to porcine IL2 (Gasbarre et al, 1984), murine IL4 and TNF-alpha but not in response to human TNF-alpha (Ranges et al, 1989). The cells have been shown also to proliferate in response to IL7 to the same extent as to IL2 (Willcocks et al, 1993).
