CTRP5

[C1q/TNF-related protein 5] abbr. C1QTNF5 [Complement C1q tumor necrosis factor-related protein 5, C1q and tumor necrosis factor related protein 5]. C1QTNF5 is the approved gene symbol.

The cDNA has been cloned by Agarwal et al (1995) and encodes a secreted protein of 281 amino acids . The protein contains a C1q-like domain found in complement component C1q subunits (see also: C1q family). CTRP5 is a member of a related family of proteins with at least 10 members, several of which are expressed predominantly in adipose tissues, circulate in the blood, and are potential endocrine hormones (Wong et al, 2008).
