cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide |
immunoglobulin superfamily gene 1 |
||
This member of the family of antimicrobial peptides known as Cathelicidins has been identified by Hao et al (2012). Cathelicidin-AL (RRSRRGRGGGRRGGSGGRGGRGGGGRSGAGSSIAGVGSRGGGGGRHYA) is the first member of this family characterized from the frog skin of Amolops loloensis. It predates reptilia but postdates fish cathelicidin. The peptide efficiently kills bacteria and some fungal species including clinically isolated drug-resistance microorganisms.
