Conopressins are neuropeptides related to vasopressin found in venom of the fish-hunting marine gastropod Conus geographus and Conus striatus (Cruz et al, 1987). Lys-conopressin-G (also: Conopressin-G) (CFIRNCPKGamide) is from Conus geographus. Arg-conopressin-S (also: Conopressin-S) (CIIRNCPRGamide) is from Conus striatus. The deduced amino acid sequence for Lymnaea preproconopressin shows the typical architecture of the precursors of the vasopressin / oxytocin hormone superfamily of vertebrates (van Kesteren et al, 1992).
