Cystatin-7

approved gene symbol CST7. This protein is a member of the cystatin superfamily of the papain family of cysteine proteases (Rawlings and Barrett, 1990; Brown and Dziegielewska, 1997). It is known also as Cystatin F (Ni et al, 1998), CMAP [cystatin-like metastasis-associated protein] (Morita et al, 1999), or leukocystatin (Halfon et al, 1998).

Cystatin-7 is a secreted protein. The recombinant protein reversibly inhibits papain and cathepsin L.

Halfon et al (1998) have shown that this protein is expressed selectively in hematopoietic cells. The protein is found also at low levels in the blood and is secreted in significant amounts by several T-cell ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
