abbr. CK-1. CK-1 is the binding site for a transcription factor called NF-GMa, which is found in the promoter region of the gene encoding G-CSF (Kuczek et al, 1991; McCaffrey et al, 1992; Shannon et al, 1992). This transcription factor is responsible for the increased expression of G-CSF observed in fibroblasts after treatment with TNF-alpha or IL1-beta (see: IL1). An identical NF-GMa binding sequence has been found also in the promoter region of the gene encoding GM-CSF. However, in this case TNF-alpha and IL1-beta do not induce transcription of the GM-CSF gene. For a related conserved sequence element see also:
