[double-antiangiogenic protein] This protein, originally termed DAAP-5 [double-antiangiogenic protein-5] as one member of a series of similar constructs, has been engineered by Koh et al (2010) from binding domains of VEGF receptors (VEGFR1) and TIE-2 receptors. DAAP acts as a decoy receptor that can bind VEGF-A, PIGF and angiopoietins and thereby simultaneously block their actions.
