DC-HIL
[dendritic cell-associated heparan sulfate proteoglycan-integrin ligand] This type-1 transmembrane protein is expressed abundantly by the XS52 dendritic cell line and epidermal Langerhans cells, but minimally by other cell lines. DC-HIL contains a heparin binding motif and an integrin-recognition motif, RGD, in its extracellular domain, which facilitates binding to endothelial cells. The protein may be involved in transendothelial migration of dendritic cells (Shikano et al, 2001).
The protein has been identified independently as Osteoactivin, nmb, and HGFIN.
