DDX21

[DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box helicase 21]

[DEAD box helicase 21; DEAD box protein 21; DEAD box 21; DEAD/H BOX 21] DDX21 is a mammalian nucleolar ATP-dependent RNA helicase that contains a characteristic DEAD box sequence motif. DDX21 unwinds double-stranded RNA, folds single-stranded RNA, and may play important roles in ribosomal RNA biogenesis, RNA editing, RNA transport, and general transcription (Valdez et al, 1996; Valdez et al, 2000; Yang et al, 2003; Henning et al, 2003). The genomic organization of the DDX21 gene has been elucidated by Zhu et al (2001). Valdez et al (1996) referred to DDX21 as Gu protein, an antigen identified using an autoimmune serum ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
