[DNAX accessory molecule 1] This type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein is expressed on most peripheral blood T-cells, NK-cells, monocytes, and a subset of B-cells. It is not found on granulocytes, erythrocytes, fibroblast, or tumor cell lines (Shibuya et al, 1996). In the nomenclature of CD antigens the protein has been given the designation CD226.
In NK-cells and activated but not resting T-cells, DNAM-1 is associated with CD11a (LFA-1) and CD18
