Dfl

[defolliculated] Dfl is a spontaneous mouse mutation mapping to chromosome 11 close to the type I keratin locus (Porter et al, 2002). The mutation is characterized by abnormal differentiation of the sebaceous gland, with sebocytes producing little or no sebum and undergoing abnormal cornification. Hair follicles fail to regress during catagen, leading to abnormally long follicles. Hair shafts are shorter than normal. The dermis of mutant mice contains increased numbers of immune cells, including CD4(+) T-cells, macrophages, and mast cells.

Ruge et al (2011) have reported aberrant expression patterns of stem cell markers ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
