Don-1
[divergent of neuregulin 1] Don-1 was isolated from a murine choroid plexus gene library and has structural similarity with the neuregulins. Two mouse and two human splice variants have been described. High levels of expression of Don-1 are restricted to the cerebellum and dentate gyrus in the adult brain and to fetal tissues (Busfield et al, 1997).
All Don-1 variants are capable of inducing tyrosine phosphorylation of erbB3, erbB4, and erbB2 (see: erb, neu), which also serve as receptors for neuregulins.
